Department of Building

Our primary mission is to provide life safety and a better quality
of living to the residents of the City of Erie.

• Building Inspection regulates the construction, demolition and occupancy of all buildings and structures within the City of Erie.
• It is the duty of the Department to review, approve and issue all permits required by code for the repair, alteration or addition to all public and private buildings and structures, as well as permits for new construction.
• Inspections are performed throughout the city to ensure that properties are in compliance with city code.
