Responsibilities include assistance in the preparation of annual budget and financial statements.  This person will perform analysis and authorization of weekly revenue and expenditure transactions, as well as assist in the authorization of the weekly payroll.

Education should include a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related subject.

Skills needed include basic computer knowledge, analytical skills and financial modeling concepts.  Also the ability to communicate well with others, have a high attention to detail and organization and an ability to prioritize tasks while working in a fast-paced environment.


Duties include preliminary engineering, estimating, contract preparation, final design drawings, contract administration, supervision/inspection of construction projects, management of project funds, investigating and responding to inquiries from contractors, staff and the public; interacting with applicable city departments, engineers and developers.  Must have excellent organizational and time management skills, and ability to solve problems with minimal direct supervision.

The successful candidate will have a B.S. in Civil Engineering, excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and a valid PA Drivers License.

The duties of the Mechanic are to perform maintenance and repair work on all City owned mobile equipment, excluding Fire Department equipment.
  • Evaluate and diagnose all automotive problems.
  • Tune-up and overhaul motors on vehicles such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractor trailers, compactors, sweepers, hi-lifts, bulldozers, shovels, graders, backhoes, snow plows, lawn mowers, pumps, and miscellaneous equipment.
  • brakes and clutch assemblies.
  • Repair or replace parts and sub-assemblies.
  • Replace exhaust systems.
  • Perform state inspections/emissions on all vehicles owned by the City of Erie.
  • Rebuild or repair hydraulic hoists on dump trucks. Recondition motorcycle engines.
  • Maintain program of preventive maintenance, including maintenance of machine tools.
  • Make emergency repairs in the field.
  • Evaluate and repair diesel problems, fuel injection systems and hydraulic problems on compactor packing systems.
  • Machine parts and perform other operations to repair or rebuild engines, starters, carburetors, generators, hydraulic shop equipment and shop tools.
  • Disassemble, inspect, and clean parts; install new or machined worn parts.
  • Assist in parts room if necessary.
  • Follow all safety regulations as specified by the City of Erie.

Associate in Specialized Technology Degree – such as: Architectural or Mechanical Computer Aided Drafting and Design or approved equivalent
Ability to successfully complete the CADD proficiency exam administered by the Bureau of Engineering

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Receive work assignments from project engineers. Must plan and schedule work.
  2. Prepare civil engineering drawings and profiles to scale. Interpret survey notes and prepare CADD, pencil or ink drawings to scale showing existing or proposed locations of right-of-ways, streets, sewers, utilities, buildings, traffic signals, bridges, parks, crime scenes, etc., using CADD and free hand lettering. Download, upload, and manipulate field data from a digital data collector. Input information into advanced CADD system. Collect survey information and field notes at actual homicide crime scene locations. Revise, update & print zoning maps.
  3. Check field calculations and run field checks as required. Make changes to existing drawings from instructions provided by the project engineer.
  4. Alter existing drawings and map records to show revised locations of right-of -ways, streets, sewers, utilities, property lines, buildings, traffic signals, bridges, etc.
  5. Maintain records of sewers, streets, buildings, traffic flows, traffic signals, bridges, etc. Update all as-built drawings for permanent record. Coordinate information between the County Assessment office and City zoning, planning, & engineering records.
  6. Maintain and research files of drawings and other information. Maintain and update computer database of drawings.
  7. Hold a valid PA Driver’s License and run errands such as distributing drawings to utilities, Courthouse, etc.
  8. Operate and maintain the copy machine to make copies of drawings. Maintain and operate large format plotter to reproduce CADD drawings. Prepare supply orders for drafting equipment, ink, paper, etc.
  9. Prepare drawings of a complete nature and work closely with police and other personnel in strict confidence.
  10. Prepare charts, graphs and tables, conduct traffic counts, etc.
  11. Assist Engineers Field Supervisors and Surveyors with field measurements and inspections as required.
  12. Perform other similar and related duties as required. Answer phones and fill in for clerk or deed registrar when necessary. Read and translate deed descriptions into record drawings.

The City of Erie is seeking a Head Golf Professional for the Joseph C. Martin Golf Course, a 9 hole layout.

The position requires proven financial and budget acumen including experience managing budgets, analyzing results, maintaining costs and meeting reporting deadlines.  The Professional will own and receive the profits from all items sold, including golf merchandise and snack bar.  Must demonstrate a record of developing and promoting junior golf activities and have an established record of providing superior service and staff training and development.

The City of Erie is seeking 3rd Shift part-time CDL Drivers/Carriers for the Bureau of Refuse and Recycling.  

Drivers must have a Commercial Drivers License Drivers will be expected to carry as scheduling dictates. 

Refuse Drivers to be paid $11.00 per hour – Refuse Carriers to be paid $8.50 per hour. 

First-shift full-time Seasonal Laborers are also needed for the Streets and Parks Bureaus. Rate of pay - $8.00 per hour. 

Must be physically capable of performing heavy work, subject to successful completion of a Pre-Employment drug screen, and have a High School diploma or equivalent.

The successful candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills, experience with Microsoft Office and spreadsheet applications. Two to three years practical experience in Municipal Government Planning, HUD regulations or equivalent. BA in Planning, Political Science, Business or related field. MA in Business may substitute for one year’s experience.
