City of Erie Refuse pickup is operating on a one-day delay the week of Christmas as well as the week of New Year’s. Dec 24 – 29, and again Dec 31 – Jan 5. Refuse pickup will operate on a Monday – Friday schedule these two weeks only, rather than the normal Sunday – Thursday schedule. If your normal refuse night is Wednesday, please place it curbside on Thursday evening this week & next week only. In the event of a missed pick-up - please contact Public Works at 870-1450.

Trick or Treat hours in the City of Erie will be from 6-8PM on October 31st.

Kathleen Schaaf Erie City Council Person is seeking an appointee to the Blighted Property Review Committee. This person will be required to attend meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:00 AM in Room 500 at City Hall. This committee consists of a council member, a member of the city planning commission, the director of the city of Erie Redevelopment Authority and other members. If you are interested in this volunteer position, please email Kathy Schaaf at kschaaf@erie.pa.us by Saturday December 8th.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today the reschedule date for one of two public plans display for proposed improvements to the Bayfront Parkway Central Corridor (Route 4034).

The open house, originally scheduled for Wednesday, November 28, 2018, will now be held December 11, 2018. This will be held in addition to public plans display already scheduled for next week.

The first plans display will be held:

Time:                  Noon to 8 PM
Location:           Emerson Gridley School gymnasium
                            816 North Park Avenue
                            Erie, PA 16502


The second plans display will be held:

Date:                  December 11, 2018
Time:                 Noon to 8 PM
Location:          Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity Community Center
                           109 German Street
                           Erie, PA 16507


The two plans displays will help introduce the public to conceptual alternatives for improvements along the Central Corridor of the Bayfront Parkway, which consists of the intersections with Sassafras Street Extension, State Street, and Holland Street.

Representatives from PennDOT and the consultant will be on hand to gather feedback, which will be used to help refine the potential improvements and identify a project implementation strategy.
