At 10:30 a.m. today, Mayor Sinnott announced the City’s Street Improvement Program for the 2017 Construction Season.  It includes milling and asphalt resurfacing of curbed and non-curbed asphalt streets, full depth reclamation of asphalt streets, crack sealing and resurfacing of concrete streets, asphalt patching, general crack sealing, curb damage repairs and painting of traffic lines and crosswalks.  In addition, Bureau of Streets daily operations such as street sweeping, installation of street signs, street light surveys, alley repairs and pothole patching will be continuing.

Congratulations to the Erie Otters, 2017 Ontario Hockey League Champions!
The City of Erie proudly salutes the dedicated young players, coaching staff, management, and host families of the Erie Otters organization for their dedication and commitment to the Erie community. Throughout each season, the Erie Otters partner with local charities and give back to Erie by coordinating a multitude events that involve the whole community. On Monday, May 15th, 2017 Mayor Joe Sinnott proudly presented the Erie Otters organization with the highest honor, the Key to the City of Erie. These young players are destined to become National Hockey League stars of the future and we’re grateful for all they do right here in our community.

The City of Erie welcomes the arrival of summer, warm weather, and sunshine! Mayor Sinnott is pleased to announce the summer programs and events offered in the 2017 Summer Parks and Recreation guide as an excellent resource for Erie’s youth, families and residents.  “The City of Erie is fortunate to have exceptional community partners, that include Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, the Housing Authority of the City of Erie (HACE), and others providing financial assistance to bring recreational opportunities to our community,” said Mayor Joseph Sinnott. Our parks, schools, and community centers provide a wide variety of activities that integrate people of all ages. It is our hope this guide will encourage active participation in the multitude of programs offered throughout the City of Erie.

The City of Erie Bureau of Fire announces the application and  testing schedule to determine a hiring list to be in effect from December 1, 2017 through November 30, 2019. The City of Erie Civil Service Board offers applications and testing for firefighter positions during a limited publicized period. The current eligibility list expires November 30th, 2017.

Applications may be picked-up May 1-5, 2017
Notarized Applications must be returned or  postmarked by May 12, 2017
Written Examinations will be held July 8, 2017

With an aim to focus attention on the safe, convenient, and responsible means of drug disposal, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has scheduled the

13th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

for

Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 

The front lobby of City Hall will again serve as one of many collection sites within Erie County on that date.

The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

(Needles and other sharps will not be accepted in this collection.)

 

Anyone looking to safely discard unused, unwanted or expired medication

may visit any of the permanent drop box locations in Erie County listed below:
